Dodgers' Freddie Freeman Wins 2024 World Series MVP After Historic HR Streak vs. NYY

Freddie Freeman hit four home runs in five games against the New York Yankees, serving as the catalyst for the Los Angeles Dodgers as they won the World Series four games to one.

For his outstanding performance, Freeman was named the World Series MVP on Wednesday.

The first baseman set a record for consecutive World Series games with a home run, homering six times in as many games dating back to the 2021 World Series when he was with the Atlanta Braves.

Freeman had one of the biggest hits of the postseason in Game 1, a walk-off grand slam to give the Dodgers a 6-3 win in extra innings.

He then homered in Game 2 to give the Dodgers some insurance in the third inning in a 4-2 win, and his Game 3 home run came in the first inning when he hit a two-run shot that accounted for half of Los Angeles' runs. He had a two-run home run in the first inning of Game 4, though it wasn't quite as impactful given the Yankees' eventual 11-4 win.

While his home run streak ended in Game 5, he had a two-run RBI single in the fifth inning to help the Dodgers spark a comeback.

Freeman ended the World Series with four home runs, 12 RBI and just one strikeout with a .300 batting average. His 12 RBI marked a World Series record.

Freeman came into the World Series battling a sprained ankle and missed Game 4 of the NLCS due to the issue. Manager Dave Roberts even said Freeman's swing was "not right" this postseason. If his ankle was bothering him at all in the World Series, he did an outstanding job making sure fans and his teammates had no idea.

Freeman, in his 15th MLB season, now has one more accolade to add to his extensive resume. The eight-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger and 2020 National League MVP is once again a World Series champion, and this time he's the MVP.
