October 8, 2024
The Los Angeles Lakers unveiled their 2024-25 City Edition jerseys on Tuesday in a video featuring LeBron James, Bronny James and Anthony Davis, among others.
The jerseys feature the word "LakeShow" on a background fading from black to purple.
"This is definitely a representation of the Lakers and the city, that's for sure," LeBron James said while debuting the new look.
The Lakers will debut the new jerseys on Nov. 21 against the Orlando Magic. They will be available for sale starting Nov. 14.
The jerseys feature player numbers in the style used by the team between 1999 and 2017, according to a team press release.
The franchise won five championships, including a three-peat between 2000 and 2002 and back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010, while wearing numbers in that style.
This is the first time Lakers jersey has featured a color gradient, according to the team.
That's not the only franchise history that will made when the players wear these jerseys, which will be accompanied by a change of the colors on the Crypto.com Arena court.
As noted by Lakers guard Max Christie in the video, this will mark the first time in franchise history Los Angeles has debuted an alternate court design, excepting the league-designed court used during the 2023 NBA in-season tournament.

The Lakers' regular season begins on Oct. 22 with a home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Players will wear their City Edition jerseys on the new court for the first time in the 15th contest of the season.
Lakers players will also wear other alternate jerseys this fall, including the Icon, Statement and Association editions, with debut dates yet to be announced.
