Mariah May Beats Toni Storm to Win AEW Women's Title at All In 2024 in Wembley
August 25, 2024
Mariah May defeated former mentor Toni Storm at the All In pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday to win the AEW Women's World Championship for the first time.
May capitalized on a crisis of conscience from Storm. The champion refused to use the white shoe to attack the challenger, a tactic she had used in the past.
The opportunistic May wasn't so courteous. She delivered a pair of running knees on Storm and hit her patented piledriver for the victory.

The 26-year-old May arrived in AEW last year after a highly successful run in Japan that saw her co-hold the Goddesses of Stardom Championship with Mina Shirakawa in World Wonder Ring Stardom.
May was immediately cast as an admirer of Storm, and over the next several months, she was essentially Storm's understudy, regularly helping her idol win matches and retain the AEW women's world title.
The dynamic started to change a bit during the lead up to Forbidden Door in June, as May's Stardom tag team partner, Shirakawa, began appearing on AEW programming as a rival of Storm, creating a conflict of interests for May.
May was stuck in the middle during their rivalry and subsequent match at Forbidden Door, but after Storm beat Shirakawa to retain the title, all three of them kissed in the ring.
Storm and May seemed to be on the same page once again, however, May competed in the Owen Hart Foundation women's tournament with the winner going on to challenge for the AEW Women's World Championship at All In.
May beat former AEW women's champs Saraya and Hikaru Shida in the first and second rounds, respectively, before taking down former TBS champion and 2023 Owen Hart Cup winner Willow Nightingale in the finals.
That set the stage for what was initially thought to be a friendly title bout between Storm and May at All In, but May quickly ended that notion by viciously attacking Storm after winning the Owen Hart tourney.
May hit Storm with the AEW women's world title belt, leaving her a bloody mess, and dissolving the relationship between them.
Mariah carried that momentum into her home country of England for All In, and she used it to score the biggest victory of her career, ending Storm's nearly 300-day title reign in the process.
