Oba Femi Beats Dijak, Josh Briggs to Retain NXT NA Title at Stand & Deliver 2024

Oba Femi defeated Dijak and Josh Briggs in a Triple Threat match at NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday to retain the North American Championship.

The champion broke up Dijak's pinfall attempt and powerbombed the challenger onto Briggs to secure the victory.

Femi, who starred in the shot put at the University of Alabama, burst onto the scene in NXT as part of the 2023 Men's Breakout Tournament, beating Myles Borne, Tavion Heights and Riley Osborne to win the tourney.

That victory gave Femi a guaranteed title shot at any time of his choosing in NXT, and he cashed it in on the Jan. 9 episode of NXT, beating Dragon Lee for the North American title right after Lee had a successful title defense against Lexis King.

After Femi beat Lee in a rematch at Vengeance Day, he was in search of his next major challenger, and it seemed as though he and Dijak kept crossing each other's paths.

It was no coincidence that Femi and Dijak bumped into each other on numerous occasions backstage, and Dijak eventually made it clear that the North American title was in his sights.

However, a wrench was thrown into Dijak's plans in the wake of Femi's dominant title defense against Brooks Jensen.

Dijak took offense to the manner in which Femi toyed with his former tag team partner and friend, prompting him to step up and throw his hat in the ring for a North American Championship match as well.

After Briggs solidified his status as a contender by beating Duke Hudson on the March 26 episode of NXT, the Triple Threat between him, Femi and Dijak was made official for Stand & Deliver.

Femi, Dijak and Briggs are three of the biggest and most physically impressive Superstars in WWE, and none of them shy away from contact, as they embrace physicality in their matches.

Those facts had fans excited for their clash at Stand & Deliver, and they did indeed deliver a slobber knocker with Femi prevailing and retaining the North American Championship.
