Get ready to watch plenty of Thursday and Friday night ACC games during the 2024 college football season.

The conference, which will look different during the upcoming campaign thanks to the addition of Stanford, Cal and SMU, released a list of weeknight "specialty games" for the 2024 schedule:

The entire ACC schedule will be released Wednesday.

According to the league's release, it worked with its member schools and ESPN to ensure that there would be no Thursday games for teams on short rest throughout the entire season. There will also be an increase of conference matchups from 56 to 68 thanks to the addition of the three teams.

That isn't the only change, as the ACC will do away with divisions and instead feature the two teams with the best winning percentage in its conference championship game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Some of the games that stand out from Tuesday's release are nonconference matchups.

North Carolina will have the chance to pick up a road win over a Big Ten team when it visits Minnesota to open the season, while Stanford and SMU can make quite the impression on their new conference with games against TCU and BYU, respectively.

It will be important for the ACC that its teams perform well in nonconference play after there was something of a perception concern for the league in 2023. Florida State finished the season undefeated but was still unable to make it into the College Football Playoff, which would be an unfathomable result for a team in the SEC or Big Ten even with quarterback injuries.

That Florida State team will be under the spotlight whenever it takes the field in 2024 after such a high-profile snub, and one of those times will come on a Friday night in Week 8 when it visits Duke.

The CFP will have 12 teams during the 2024 season, so at least the Seminoles and other teams won't have to worry about being left out if they are undefeated this time.
